Donors of Stellenbosch University can vote for their representatives in Council from 1 March 2010 at 08:00. Six vacancies in Council - four members of Council appointed by the Convocation and two members appointed by donors - need to be filled by the end of March 2010.
Four candidates for the two positions as members of Council representing donors have been nominated and an election in that category therefore needs to take place.
The vacancies have come about as a result of the terms of office of a representative of the donors that has come to an end and of representatives of the Convocation as well as the resignation of members of Council - one appointed by the donors and one appointed by the Convocation.
Two of the four candidates must be appointed by the donors. The four candidates are:
A. Mr MR (Marius) Fürst
B. Mr DK (Desmond) Smith
C. Mr G (George) Steyn
D. Prof PW (Pieter) van der Walt
Donors can cast their votes for the nominated candidates by a normal postal vote or via electronic voting from 1 March 2010 at 08:00 to 25 March 2010 at 12:00. Eligible voters on the University's database that have not provided an e-mail address, will receive information on the candidates and a voting letter via post while the rest will receive the information and voting options via e-mail.

All donors living abroad who do not have a South African ID number should please contact the Alumni office (phone: +27 21 808-2709 or 808-2710 or 808-2711 or e-mail alumni@sun.ac.za) to get their SU number and to verify their telephone number. Once the telephone number has been verified, a ballot can be sent to them via e-mail or fax.
